Scanity (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our mobile application (“Scanity” or “the App”).

 

1. Information We Collect

Scanity is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect or store any sensitive personal data such as login credentials, payment information, or government IDs.

The app may collect and store the following limited information locally on your device:

  1. Scan metadata: e.g., scan name, creation date, page count.
  2. User preferences: app settings such as theme, filters, and scan quality.
  3. Recent scans list: to provide quick access to previously scanned documents

This data is stored securely in a local SQLite database on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

 

2. Use of Device Permissions

Scanity requires certain Android permissions strictly to provide its core features:

 1.Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): To scan documents, receipts, ID cards, books, and other materials.

2. Gallery & File Access:

  •  android.permission.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13+): To select and scan images from your
  •  gallery.android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below): To import
  •  images/PDFs.android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below): To save scanned documents. (Replaced by scoped storage on Android 13+).

Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13+): To show important local notifications such as scan completion alerts.

 

Vibration Feedback (android.permission.VIBRATE): To provide haptic feedback for a better user experience.

 

Biometric Authentication:

 

  • android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC and android.permission.USE_FINGERPRINT: To secure access to the
  •  app or specific scans with fingerprint or face authentication.

⚠️ We do not misuse or sell your data collected via permissions. All data remains on your device.

 

3. Data Storage & Security

  • All data (scans, metadata, preferences) is stored locally on your device only.

 

  • No document images, files, or metadata are transmitted to external servers.

 

  • Database operations use Android’s secure SQLite APIs and parameterized queries to prevent SQL injection or unauthorized access.

 

4. Sharing & Backup

  • You may choose to share scanned documents via third-party apps (e.g., WhatsApp, email, or cloud storage). This sharing is initiated by you and handled by the selected third-party service.

 

  • Scanity does not automatically upload or share your documents with anyone.

 

5. Children’s Privacy

  • Scanity is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data, please contact us.

 

6. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
